Example of Installation Error going Undetected and Resulting Consequences
This error was not found until much later - and it was surprising!
We all make mistakes when building. For example: mounting things upside down, forgetting a cotter pin and the list is endless. Consider what happens when you inherit the work of another builder as a result of purchasing their homebuilt aircraft

A new owner purchased an experimental aircraft from another builder and after flying many hours decided it was time for an oil change. What resulted after removing and examining the oil filter was surprising! All of the inlet holes on the filter were clogged with pieces of rubber. Was this a filter malfunction of some sort?
